
Graduate Assistant for Residence Life

Overview
The Graduate Assistant for Residence Life is a live-in 10-month, 2-year commitment, overseeing 2-3 residence halls of up to 300 and a staff of 6–8 Resident Assistants, with responsibilities of using a wide range of media to design, promote, and disseminate information for the Campus Life Office and skills to track, assess, and monitor all residence life programming. Applicants must be accepted into one of West Virginia Wesleyan College’s graduate programs (M.B.A., MSN, MFA, or MSAT) before being considered for the position. The stipend includes tuition, full room and board, and $3,600. Hours include weekday office hours, weeknight hours, and duty rotation. The position reports to the Associate Director of Campus Life.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervises 2–3 RDs and 6–10 RAs with programming, discipline, and administrative duties
Participates in weeknight and weekend duty rotation with professional staff
Works closely with the Assistant Director to assist with all aspects of RA programming
Participates in Residence Life on-call duty rotation
Creates and maintains all Campus Life social media initiatives, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat
Works with the college’s webmaster to update the Campus Life webpage
Tracks and assesses all residence life programming
Works daily office hours
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Supervision skills
Knowledge of various computer programs, MS Office, Outlook, Adobe, Publisher, etc.
Knowledge of all types of social media advertising
Creativity
Organization skills
Assessment knowledge
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree
Residence Life and Programming experience
Acceptance into a master’s level program at West Virginia Wesleyan College
Position subject to background check
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Position begins August 1, 2026
