Qualifications

Job Summary
The Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning a maximum of 14 room credits per day, and/or cleaning public areas as assigned throughout the entire hotel in a safe and thorough manner. The Room Attendant interacts with guests in rooms, hallways, elevator landings and employees on a daily basis. This position is on-call and has variable hours based on business needs.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Clean assigned work area, including but not limited to changing bed sheets, emptying waste baskets, replacing trash liners, vacuuming, mopping, and dusting and straightening furniture
Replace and report all damaged drapes, shears, bedspreads and linens
Strip used linens and place clean linens on beds and cots in guestrooms
Clean and disinfect bathrooms including bathtubs, sinks, toilets, mirrors, tiles, and floors
Remove and replenish used and damaged supplies and amenities including, but not limited to shampoo, soap, note paper, and envelopes
Remove debris from hallways in a safe manner
Report and transport all items recovered to lost and found
Inspect all equipment and report any problems to appropriate personnel. Follow up to ensure correction of problem
Interact in a courteous and professional manner with guests and hotel staff with whom employee comes into contact
Comply with supervisor's directions to ensure guest and staff satisfaction
Attend to guests' requests or complaints when possible and appropriate; when inappropriate, inform supervisor or appropriate person of request and follow up to ensure it was resolved
Maintain safety and cleanliness of work area
Required Qualifications
Speak, understand, and read English
Flexible schedule and be able to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays
Able to maintain a 5-star level of service
Ability to operate vacuum cleaner and other cleaning equipment.
Knowledge and ability to clean and arrange guest rooms, in accordance with hotel standards.
Able to work with management on special projects
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Maintain a professional business appearance, attitude, and performance
Candidate must possess an excellent service-oriented attitude
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Forbes 5-Star Standards
Experience in a luxury hotel preferred, however no experience is required. Employee will be trained with Nikko and Forbes Standards.
Work Conditions
Work tasks are performed alone and without direct supervision
Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems
Work tasks are performed standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, twisting, turning, and grasping
Standing and walking occur approximately 80-85% of the work shift. Stationary standing occurs while making beds, cleaning bathroom fixtures. Walking occurs repetitively through rooms and halls of hotel in the process of moving between workstations and cleaning
Pulling and pushing up to 100 lbs. occurs approximately 40% the time. Lifting of 50 lbs occurs 40% of the time
Reaching occurs frequently to continuously throughout the work shift. The most common reaching activities are at or below shoulder level, involving making beds, cleaning and generally all aspects of the job. Overhead reaching is required in the process of wiping mirrors, dusting high areas, and retrieving supplies from shelves and racks
Pushing and pulling occur occasionally. The most common aspects are in moving utility carts, making beds and cleaning furniture
Crouching and kneeling occur occasionally, generally in the process of cleaning bathroom fixtures and under a bed
Bending and stooping occur frequently, generally in the process of performing many types of cleaning activities including making beds and cleaning bathtubs and floors
Twisting and turning occur frequently, generally in such activities as making beds, loading carts and general cleaning
Grasping occurs continuously throughout the work shift
Talking and hearing occur occasionally in communicating with co-workers and supervisors
Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision, color vision and depth perception.
Some work tasks are performed on carpeted surfaces, while others are performed on tiled or hard surfaces
Some work tasks require employee to come in contact with hazardous chemicals. Employee should use precaution and personal protective equipment not limited to rubber gloves
Some work tasks are performed with the use of cleaning equipment including, but not limited to a vacuum cleaner, stripper, waxer, buffer, brooms, mop, dust cloth, sponge and brush
