Your Role as the Certified Medication Aide (CMA)
Americare Senior Living is seeking a dedicated Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to provide safe, accurate medication administration and compassionate daily care to our residents. In this role, you'll play a vital part in supporting residents' health, comfort, and quality of life while helping maintain a warm, home-like environment.
Working under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, you'll ensure medications are administered correctly, residents are monitored closely, and care is delivered with dignity and respect.
Summary
The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for administering prescribed medications, supporting residents with activities of daily living, and maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with state regulations and Americare policies.
This role works collaboratively with nursing staff and caregivers to promote resident safety, wellness, and person-centered care.
This role may also be known as:
Certified Medication Aide (CMA), Medication Technician, (CMT) Med Aide, Level One Medication Aide, (L1MA) or Medication Assistant.
What You'll Do
Administer prescribed medications under the supervision of licensed nursing staff
Verify resident identity prior to medication administration and document dosage, time, and observations
Monitor residents for medication responses and report adverse reactions or concerns promptly
Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meals, and mobility
Recognize and report changes in resident condition to charge staff
Maintain accurate documentation related to resident care, intake, and output as ordered
Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer documentation as required
Support team members by providing assistance as needed
Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning resident rooms and common areas
Answer phones, greet visitors, and assist with tours as requested
What You Bring
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) program that meets state requirements
Active CMA certification in good standing
Skills & Abilities
Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary care team
Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication safety
Compassionate, resident-focused approach to care
Clear communication skills and professionalism
Physical Demands
Lift up to 25 lbs. and assist with resident transfers as needed
Push, pull, and maneuver up to 100 lbs., including resident mobility assistance
Maneuver resident wheelchairs weighing up to 350 lbs.
Safety Requirements
Follow proper resident care procedures, including two-person lifts when required
Utilize required PPE to prevent exposure to bloodborne pathogens
Report work-related injuries within 12 hours and complete required documentation
Participate in company drug testing procedures
Work Environment
This role is performed in an indoor healthcare environment with appropriate lighting and ventilation. Duties may occasionally include accompanying residents to outdoor or community activities.
