About the Role
Hospice East Bay operates six thrift stores that directly support patient care. These stores are located in:
Alamo
Concord
Danville
Martinez
Pleasant Hill
Walnut Creek
Reporting to the Director of Retail Operations, you'll be responsible for picking up large and bulky donated items from homes and businesses, transporting donations between stores, helping maintain our vehicles, and supporting general store and warehouse operations.
In this role, you will:
Represent Hospice of the East Bay in a professional, friendly, and compassionate manner
Drive a company truck to private homes and businesses for scheduled donation pickups
Deliver donations and merchandise between thrift store locations
Assess donated items for quality and usability
Keep accurate records of miles driven and donations received
Help maintain the truck, including fueling, cleaning, and coordinating service needs
Assist in stores with lifting, loading, rearranging merchandise, and moving large items
Support estate clean-outs
Help with general maintenance tasks such as fixing leaks, trimming landscape, sweeping, and basic handyman duties
Maintain the Concord warehouse, ensuring it stays clean, safe, and organized
Learn about our hospice program and confidently share our mission with donors and shoppers
Perform other duties as needed to support the team
You're someone who:
Takes pride in being reliable, courteous, and hardworking
Enjoys working independently while also being part of a team
Communicates well with donors, coworkers, and community members
Is comfortable working with senior citizens
Can adapt to a variety of tasksfrom driving and lifting to helping around the store
Understands that even small acts of service can make a big difference
Position Requirements:
High school diploma
Valid California Driver's License
Clean DMV record
Must be 21 years of age or older to drive company vehicles
Excellent driving skills and safe driving habits
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs
Unrestricted mobility to move merchandise and work in tighter spaces
Previous experience working with senior citizens or moving furniture is helpful, but not required
