Position Highlights

The Athletics Department is dedicated to excellence in collegiate sports, building a modern model of intercollegiate athletics fostering integrity, innovation, and student-athlete success. This position will actively participate as a member of the Arizona Performance Nutrition Staff and assist the Director of Football Performance Nutrition in supporting the University of Arizona Football Team in daily nutrition services and operations. Arizona Performance Nutrition is looking for a staff member who values building relationships, advocates for athletes, and has a growth mindset to elevate our department and maximize opportunities.
This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel as needed. Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Duties & Responsibilities

Conduct new athlete nutrition screenings; identify student athletes at nutritional risk.
Provide individual nutrition counseling and follow-up consultations to student athletes.
Research, evaluate and recommend appropriate dietary supplements with regard to NCAA Rules and Regulations as well as efficacy, safety, and legality.
Develop nutrition education materials and facilitate team education sessions.
Manage team fueling stations including intern staffing, ordering, inventory, distribution and education based on dietary needs of student-athletes as they follow dietary advice and recommendations.
Assist with team meals, working with culinary and food service staff to plan nutritionally complete menus for training table meals.
Coordinate pre and post game meals and snacks for home and away games based on evaluated needs of student-athletes.
Attend team meals, practices, lifts and games as assigned to ensure proper nutrients are supplied before and after based on evaluations.
Conduct nutrition body composition assessment (DEXA), sweat rate testing, analyzing frame assessment data and creating individualized nutrition, hydration and body weight goals based on above tests and athlete goals.
Interpret and communicate data from testing to appropriate people.
Work collaboratively in the Arizona Football High Performance Team.
Educate, mentor, and supervise performance nutrition interns and student volunteers.
Data management of performance nutrition research; Document performance nutrition metrics, including recovery initiatives, team education interventions, individual athlete consults, body composition assessments and progress, and biochemical parameters; and assess through the use of data analytics.
Budget accountability.

Knowledge of NCAA, Conference, and University of Arizona rules and compliance.

Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to plan, establish priorities and successfully manage multiple priority projects.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain interpersonal relations.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels using professional, respectful communication.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
One year of relevant work experience required.
In addition to the education and experience minimum qualifications, State licensure and registration required.
Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in a related field or working towards a Master’s Degree in a related field.
ServSafe Certified, Food handlers permit (or equivalent).
RD license.
Foodservice management experience.
One year of sports nutrition experience.
