Quality Assurance Technician

Scope of Position
The Quality Assurance Technician provides technical quality support to manufacturing operations to ensure compliance with established quality standards and production requirements. The Quality Assurance Technician will be the primary contributor to daily quality assurance activities and will provide support for quality improvement projects including root cause analysis, development of inspection plans and work instructions, selecting sampling plan applications, performing audits, analyzing quality data, and applying fundamental continual improvement activities.
This position reports to Quality Manager, Josam. This role is based out of Michigan City, IN at the Josam facility.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct routine quality inspections throughout the production or manufacturing process including incoming materials, in-process and final inspections
Make decisions using detailed Acceptance Criteria and Product Specifications regarding quality of materials
Perform quality audits throughout the manufacturing process
Set up and perform tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics
Develop and maintain inspection plans, control plans, and work instructions
Maintain documentation of all inspections and tests
Assist with problem resolution throughout Josam manufacturing processes
Suggest improvements to Josam processes and inspection methods
Support quality improvement efforts by participating in Corrective Action projects
Support Quality Department on the revision and preparation of internal and external Product Part Approval Process (PPAP) and First Article Inspection (FAI)
Support continuous improvement and new product/process development projects
Support the Returned Material Authorization Process as required
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
3+ years of quality experience
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Understanding of inspection techniques and ability to use a variety of precision measuring tools, including micrometers, calipers, height gages, etc.
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer).
Excellent interpersonal skills and written communication skills are required.
Excellent organizational and time management skills are required.
Must be detail oriented and a self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
A.S. Degree
Manufacturing, Engineering, or technical discipline
ASQ Certifications (CQA, CQI, CQT)
Manufacturing or machine shop experience

Working Conditions
While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site at a manufacturing facility and will perform the majority of your duties in an office environment. You may, at times, be required to be present on the manufacturing floor and will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. You will be required to work both on the production floor and in the office at the Josam location (Monday
Friday). Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.
Physical Requirements: Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to push and pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to physically move around manufacturing floor.
Ability to read documents and communicate clearly with management and coworkers.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment, which may include, but is not limited to, safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
