This can vary at therapist's discretion based on patient needs.

Required Certifications: WI PTA license & AHA BLS Minimum Education: Associate's Degree Physical Therapist Assistant. (or Graduate of accredited PTA program) Minimum Experience: 1+yr preferred. Contract therapist must be able to operate independently after onboarding / orientation. Charting Experience: Epic preferred (not required)
Unit Overview: Will provide care in outpatient, inpatient, and swing bed settings. Primary need is inpatient and swing bed / post-acute rehab. Patient Ratio: Variable. Typically 5-8 patients per day. We are a 24-bed critical access hospital with attached ED and specialty clinics. Our rehab services departments provide physical, occupational, speech, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation in our outpatient clinic, hospital, and swing bed units. Case mix fluctuates, but a physical therapist assistant could generally expect to split their time between outpatient and inpatient care, with primary focus on inpatient & subacute.
Inpatients are typically seen for 30-45-minute sessions, 1-2 times per day. Outpatient treatment sessions are scheduled for 45 minutes unless the therapist requests more or less time with that patient. Frequency and duration will be determined by the evaluating therapist based on specific patient need. Our clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with some flexibility in collaboration with staff based on specific patient need and staff availability. Our outpatient clinic is closed on weekends and holidays.
Our team consists of the following: 4 physical therapists and 3 PT assistants, 1 occupational therapist, 1 OT assistant, and 3 contract PRN occupational therapists from an area hospital, 1 speech therapist 2 dedicated rehab scheduling specialists, and 1 exercise physiologist and 1 RN in our cardiopulmonary rehab department. Case mix diagnoses include but are not limited to orthopedic injuries, post-surgical, general deconditioning, acute and chronic pain conditions, neurological disorders, and age-related conditions. We do have some pediatric referrals and do see patients across the entire lifespan.
GSA is not guaranteed orientation week. Traveler is guaranteed set hours per week, except during holidays where unit is closed.
