Forklift Operator
1st Shift
The Forklift Operator plays a key role in supporting high-volume distribution operations by safely operating stand-up high reach and sit-down forklifts to load, unload, and move inventory throughout the warehouse. This role focuses on efficient shipping and receiving, inventory movement, and maintaining a safe, organized work environment during a period of significant volume growth.
Responsibilities
Unload incoming trucks and manage the overall shipping and receiving flow.
Load and unload trailers using sit-down forklifts, stand-up high reach forklifts, and electric rider pallet jacks.
Move, stage, and repalletize inventory accurately and efficiently.
Use RF scanners to track, scan, and label inventory and shipments.
Support high-volume trailer forecasting and daily outbound and inbound schedules.
Assist with ramp-up activities for seasonal and project-based volume increases, including holiday and large retail projects.
Shrink wrap and secure pallets to ensure safe transport and storage.
Label products and pallets according to established procedures.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in all warehouse zones.
Follow all written and verbal instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety protocols.
Wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Participate in hands-on certification and training related to forklift operation and warehouse safety.
Work independently and self-manage tasks to meet productivity and accuracy expectations.
Communicate clearly in English with team members and leadership regarding work status, issues, and safety concerns.
Support overtime and Saturday work as needed to meet high-volume operational demands.
Essential Skills
Proven experience operating sit-down forklifts in a warehouse or distribution environment.
Proven experience operating Crown stand-up high reach forklifts.
Experience operating electric rider pallet jacks.
Demonstrated ability to safely load and unload trailers using powered industrial equipment.
Proficiency using RF scanners for inventory movement, tracking, and labeling.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet in a high-volume warehouse environment.
Ability to speak, write, and communicate clearly in English.
Ability to work independently and self-manage daily tasks and priorities.
Strong awareness of warehouse safety standards and adherence to safety protocols.
Willingness to participate in hands-on certification and ongoing safety training.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working in a fast-paced distribution or warehouse setting with high trailer volume.
Experience in palletizing, repalletizing, shrink wrapping, and labeling products.
Familiarity with inventory workflows such as staging, put-away, and replenishment.
Comfort using basic math skills to verify counts, inventory, and documentation.
Experience using basic computer tools or spreadsheets (such as Excel) for simple inventory or tracking tasks.
Previous exposure to large-scale, project-based or seasonal volume ramps is a plus.
Comfort using and maintaining personal protective equipment (PPE) in a warehouse setting.

Work Environment
This role is based in a dedicated distribution warehouse with no production activities, allowing you to focus solely on logistics and material handling. It is a large-scale warehouse with active operations, where multiple teams work collaboratively across shifts to manage high volume. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with openness to overtime and occasional Saturdays as operational needs increase. The site is currently experiencing high volume due to major projects and end-of-year holiday ramp-up, creating a fast-paced environment where efficiency and teamwork are essential. A large parking lot with over 600 spaces is available for staff and contractors, providing convenient access to the facility. Standard warehouse attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are required while on the floor.
Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tracy, CA.
Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
