Advanced Patient Care Technician (APCT)
Emergency Room (Full-Time)
The Staff Pad has partnered with a hospital in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to hire a full-time Advanced Patient Care Technician (APCT) for the Emergency Department. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced, team-driven environment where you'll play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care.
Position Overview: The APCT supports physicians and nursing staff in providing efficient, compassionate care to patients in the Emergency Room. This role requires strong clinical skills, the ability to prioritize in high-acuity situations, and a commitment to patient safety and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet, assess, and assist patients with immediate care needs in the ER
Accurately document patient conditions, treatments, and interactions while maintaining confidentiality
Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and care teams to deliver timely, safe, and effective care
Perform clinical duties within scope of practice, including: Vital signs monitoring Point-of-care testing Phlebotomy EKGs Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) Support emergency interventions and patient management as needed Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked clinical environment Provide one-on-one observation for high-risk patients, including those at risk of self-harm Assist with unit operations including answering phones, coordinating transfers, and general support duties
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required
Completion of an accredited EMT program
Current state certification or licensure required
BLS required; ACLS and PALS required within 90 days of hire
Ability to work full-time (36 hours/week) with 12-hour shifts (days or nights)
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and rotating schedules
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 1 year of direct clinical experience in a healthcare setting
Strong ability to prioritize and respond to patient needs in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Experience with EMR systems and basic computer proficiency
Commitment to infection control and patient safety standards
Physical ability to bend, stoop, and lift up to 35 lbs using proper body mechanics
