Quality Inspector

The Quality Inspector performs inspections on incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure they meet defined quality standards, specifications, and work instructions. This role supports manufacturing operations by identifying defects, documenting inspection results, and collaborating closely with production and quality teams to maintain consistently high product quality.
Responsibilities

Inspect incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products using visual checks and precision measuring tools to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, specifications, and work instructions to determine inspection criteria and measurement requirements.
Use precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, height gauges, and microscopes to perform accurate dimensional and visual inspections.
Conduct visual inspections and quality checks on assemblies, including connector assemblies, to identify defects, non-conformances, and deviations.
Approve or reject materials, components, and finished products based on established quality standards and documented criteria.
Document inspection results clearly and accurately, including recording measurements, non-conformances, deviations, and final inspection outcomes.
Maintain accurate and organized quality records, inspection reports, and related documentation in accordance with quality system procedures.
Communicate quality issues, trends, and non-conformances promptly to production and quality leadership to support timely resolution.
Support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes by providing detailed inspection data and participating in problem-solving activities.
Perform first article inspections (FAI) and final inspections as required, and complete associated reports and documentation.
Follow all established quality system procedures, including ISO/AS standards where applicable, and adhere to all safety policies and practices.
Work collaboratively with production, assembly, and quality teams to support continuous improvement and maintain a high level of product quality.
Essential Skills

High school diploma or GED.
13+ years of experience in Quality Inspection or Quality Control in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and understand blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and work instructions.
Hands-on experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and height gauges.
Proficiency in performing visual inspections and quality checks on parts and assemblies.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects, non-conformances, and deviations.
Effective documentation skills, including accurately recording inspection results and maintaining quality records.
Basic computer skills and the ability to use inspection or reporting software.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift approximately 2550 lbs as needed in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to work safely around machinery, noise, and repetitive operations while following PPE and safety requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability production environments.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems.
Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) and final inspection reporting.
Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience with connector assembly inspection and quality assurance processes.
IPC or other relevant quality certifications are a plus.
Background in quality assurance, quality control, or related inspection roles in a production setting.

Work Environment

This role is based on a manufacturing and production floor where you will have your own dedicated inspection bench. You will work around machinery and equipment, with exposure to loud noise and repetitive motion typical of a production environment. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, and safety procedures are strictly followed. The position involves standing, walking, bending, and lifting moderate weights as part of daily activities while performing inspections with precision tools and working closely with production and quality teams.

This is a Contract position based out of Santa Rosa, CA.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
