Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Medical Assistant/Scribe to join our team!
Job Summary: Provide service excellence based on patient care and patient relationships. Functions as an effective team member with teamwork being the core approach whether doing order entry or providing patient care. Enters provider medication and lab orders accurately and efficiently. The Scribe communicates with providers and support staff in the clinics.

Duties and Responsibilities:
MA:
Uses computer applications
Answers telephones
Greets patients
Updates and files patient medical records
Codes and fills out insurance forms
Schedules appointments
Arranges for hospital admissions and laboratory services
Handles correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping
Performs all administrative duties in a clinic or office
MA/Scribe:
Facilitate timely and accurate flow of communication within the clinic/location.
Clarify unsigned orders and chart notes with the provider.
Educate all patients about the significance and importance of registering for the patient portal. This includes asking the required questions for patient portal registration and providing the patient with accurate documentation on their username, default password, how to change this password, and accessing the patient portal from home.
Order and "Associate" all orders and care plans in the chart note to complete an accurate picture of the visit.
Enter patient rooms with provider and document while care is being provided.
Make all spelling and correction errors throughout visit.
Review with provider immediately after the patient has left to verify accuracy. Make any corrections necessary at this time. Require the provider to sign off on the chart note to close out of the note and move to the next patient.
Keep scribe work areas clean and the equipment properly maintained.
Protect all patient data by locking computer screen when leaving your station.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly.
Attends annual review and department staff meetings, as scheduled.
Actively participates in performance improvement and quality improvement activities.
Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department.
Complete yearly and monthly MVH online training, and participate in bonus structure requirements, along with continuing education.
Required to check emails and be responsible for its content at least three times per week.
May perform below clinical duties-under the responsibility and direct supervision of licensed person and after documented training and proof of competency:
Takes medical histories
Administers basic first aid
Explains treatment procedures to patients
Prepares patients for examination
Takes vital signs
Assists the physician during exams
Collects and prepares laboratory specimens
Performs basic laboratory tests
Instructs patients about medication and special diets
Prepares and administers medications non- invasive medication as directed by a physician and supervised by a licensed person.
Operates office medical equipment
Removes sutures and changing dressings
Participates in periods of emergency
Performs specified and approved aseptic techniques
Qualifications
Education/Certification: High School diploma or GED/transcript equivalent.
Clinical skills: Clinical skills may be specific to the clinical setting but may include EKGS, respiratory testing, lab tests classified as "waived" under CLIA, and administering medication only by unit, or single dosage, or by a dosage calculated and verified by a healthcare practitioner.
Equipment/Technology: Basic computer skills necessary
Language/Communication: English, Medical terminology, Grammar, Spelling & punctuation
Mathematical Skills: Basic
Mental Capabilities: Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
Interpersonal: Effectively communicates with administration, managers, and staff. Exceptional customer service and telephone etiquette
Performance: Requires ability to work independently and with groups/teams as both project leader and team member. Requires attention to detail and ability to assimilate large amounts of information from various sources.
