Job Title: Machine Operator
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Supervises: None
Department: Manufacturing / Production
Position Summary
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining machinery used in the production process. This role ensures that equipment runs efficiently and safely while producing high-quality components according to specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate machinery according to established procedures and safety standards
Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine production requirements
Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or deviations from standards
Perform routine quality checks using measuring tools and instruments
Adjust machine settings to optimize performance and ensure product quality
Conduct basic troubleshooting and minor repairs as needed
Maintain accurate production records and complete required documentation
Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals
Assist in inventory management and report material shortages or equipment issues
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Prior experience in a manufacturing or machine operation role is a plus
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints
Basic math skills and ability to use measuring tools (e.g., tape measure, calipers)
Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Basic computer proficiency
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
Regularly lift and/or move up to 25lbs; occasionally up to 50lbs
Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for operating machinery and inspecting products
Work Environment
Manufacturing floor with exposure to moving mechanical parts, moderate noise, and varying temperatures
May occasionally be exposed to outdoor conditions depending on facility layout
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
