Custodian
The job of Custodian is done for the purpose of maintaining attractive, sanitary and safe facilities and grounds for students, staff and public; performing a variety of special cleaning operations; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events; and minimizing property damage, loss and liability exposure.
This job reports to the Assigned Administrator
Essential Functions
Arranges equipment and furnishings for providing adequate arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events.
Attends meetings for receiving and sharing information required to perform job functions.
Cleans assigned facilities and grounds to meet sanitation requirements and maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
Communicates issues about safety and/or proper maintenance of facilities to supervisor, site staff and others to provide information, obtain repairs, ensure safety and/or schedule special cleaning.
Distributes custodial supplies and equipment to disseminate materials to custodial staff and/or storage locations.
Inspects facilities to ensure the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, identifying necessary repairs to facilities and/or equipment.
Maintains custodial supplies, equipment, and landscaping for the availability of items required to properly and safely maintain facilities and preserving grounds in a healthy, attractive, and safe condition.
Maintains strict confidentiality on personnel and student issues to protect personal information for staff and students.
Opens and/or secures facilities for daily operation to ensure facilities are operational and safe for occupancy and/or minimize property damage, equipment loss and potential liability to the district.
Operates all appropriate equipment for cleaning and maintaining building and grounds.
Performs inspections on HVAC, roof, building condition and other building systems to provide preventative maintenance, repairs, and summer maintenance for maintaining facility, tools, and equipment in operational order.
Removes snow and ice to maintain a safe environment.
Responds to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and/or visitors to provide information, take appropriate action, and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.
Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns to take appropriate action or notify appropriate personnel for resolution.
Stocks classroom and restroom supplies to ensure adequate quantities for daily use.
Supports other site maintenance staff to complete custodial activities.
Transports various items to schools or other sites as assigned to provide materials at job site and/or school site as may be required.
Other Functions
Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Education: High school graduation or GED
Certificates & Licenses: Valid Driver's License & Evidence of Insurability
