Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Access Management Representative to join our emergency department registration team in a vibrant regional healthcare setting within the Pacific Northwest. This role involves interviewing patients or their representatives to gather essential personal, financial, and demographic information, preparing patient records, and ensuring accurate data entry into computer systems. You will verify insurance coverage, obtain necessary signatures, and handle financial transactions such as co-payments and deductibles with care and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to unit-based safety and infection control protocols.
Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills when interacting with colleagues, patients, physicians, and the public.
Conduct thorough patient interviews and accurately input all required information into the system.
Obtain and verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and pre-authorizations in compliance with payer requirements and CMS standards.
Communicate coverage and eligibility information clearly to patients, including any required deposits or deductibles prior to registration.
Provide cost estimates for procedures upon patient request.
Ensure patients are appropriately prepared for registration and directed to the correct service areas, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
Perform cashiering duties during after-hours and weekends as needed.
Complete special assignments to support departmental needs.
Qualifications

Minimum of one year of computer data entry experience.
At least one year of customer service experience, preferably working with patients or customers.
Healthcare insurance verification experience is preferred.
Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.
Education

High school diploma or GED required.
All new hires must successfully complete a physical evaluation, urine drug screening, and pre-employment background checks prior to starting work. Compliance with regional COVID-19 vaccination requirements is mandatory, with documented proof or approved exceptions.
