Description

Primary Responsibilities/Requirements:
Perform general nursing duties in a busy orthopedic practice
Perform suture/staple removal
Perform wound care/dressing changes
Drawing up meds; calling in medications
Application of sterile fields
Application and removal of casts and splints
Locate any necessary imaging, test results, or reports for upcoming appointments
Schedule and precert MRI'S, lab work, procedures, and surgeries
Prepare exam rooms, restock supplies for the clinic, power up computers, etc.
Prepare for the clinic by printing out patient information as requested by the physician
Assist with verifying pre-op labs and scheduling surgery clearances as needed
Assist other team members as needed
Provide coverage for clinical teams as needed
Fill out disability, return-to-work, and insurance forms
Obtain the physician's signature on miscellaneous forms
Friendly and Professional patient communication when answering and returning patient phone calls, providing various forms of patient education and handouts, escorting patients to and from exam rooms, appointment/surgery reminder calls, responding to and charting patient messages, and communicating test results to patients with direction from a physician
Must also possess:
HS/GED required
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, DOC physicians, and staff
Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and meet deadlines
Outstanding organizational, verbal, and writing skills
Independent, self-starting, and highly motivated
Strong patient care and interpersonal skills
Proven positive, "teamwork" attitude and work history
Minimum one-year full-time clinical experience in healthcare preferred
Physical Demands:
Must be able to use arms, hands, and fingers skillfully
Frequent moving, pushing, and pulling of heavy patients and equipment
Constant standing and walking
Must be agile and able to work efficiently in limited space areas
Consistently work at a productive pace
Must readily adapt to frequent treatment schedule changes
