Tool Makers operate in a team environment to fabricate tooling, jigs, fixtures and components for specialty equipment in support of the manufacture of catheters, specialty tubing, specialty rods and medical device sub-assemblies using standard tool making machinery.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Fabricates tips and dies and all other extrusion components for extrusion operations using manual lathes and surface grinders following prints.
Programs and generates tool path geometry and enters programming into Computer Numeric Control (CNC) to produce two dimensional features.
Measure fabricated tooling and key dimensions of fabricated jigs, fixtures and specialty equipment components using optical micrometer, vernier calipers, pin gages, snap gages, hand micrometers and compares measurements to prints to ensure fabrication of quality tooling.
Completes all required documentation in accordance with Work Instructions and company policies ensuring workflow measures are recorded and Drawing Rev. Control is maintained for all tooling fabricated to support production and special projects.
Polish tooling, measure surface finish using comparison gages.
Fulfills all work functions in accordance with established work instructions, ISO policies and company safety policies.
Assists with tool assembly area: cleaning, polishing.
Qualifications:
High school diploma, technical school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read and interpret documents including specifications, drawings, work instructions, safety rules, procedures, manuals and Safety data sheets.
3-5 years hand on machine shop experience.
Strong math skills including geometry.
Physical Requirements:
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to input, handle or feel, use of arms to reach, able to hear and talk. Must have dexterity to work with small pieces.
Works with mechanical parts and vibration.
Works in a manufacturing environment.
