Job Purpose
To provide nursing care to residents as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with standards of nursing practices and regulations.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Nursing Care:
Prepare and review medical records and nurse’s notes, assess residents, monitor activity, evaluate nursing care, coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharge, transcribe orders, communicate with residents, family, team, and management.
Drug Administration and Documentation:
Prepare and administer medications as ordered, sign and date all charting and record keeping.
Direct Patient Care:
Lead and monitor licensed and other professionals, schedule assignments, staff coaching and feedback, serve as team leader.
Resident Rights:
Understand, comply with, and promote all rules regarding residents’ rights.
Care Plans:
Assist and participate in developing and implementing written care plans for individual residents that address their needs.
Staff Development:
Participate in in-service training, assist in orientation programs and job skills training, maintain professional competence.
Safety and Sanitation:
Monitor environment and practices to ensure compliance with safety, fire, disaster, infection control, and cleanliness.
Other Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
Works in a climate-controlled, well-lighted environment. Works in an office and throughout the building daily. Has Category 1 risk of exposure to infectious diseases. Is subject to interruptions, noise, and odors daily. Requires walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells, tastes, temperatures, communicate with residents and employees, understand and follow training, instruct staff, remain calm under stress.
Qualifications
Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing and currently licensed by the state. Experience as a Charge Nurse or supervisory experience preferred. Must be CPR certified.
Ability to convey complex specialized information related to long‑term care rules and regulations. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to complete continuing education hours as required by the state.
Ability to build and maintain relationships, coordinate plans, distribute information, and implement state and federal rules. Must relate positively to residents, families, and regulators. Must maintain regular attendance.
Must be capable of performing the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
