Document Scanning Technician

The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) seeks a full time Document Scanning Technician in the Bureau of Health Services. Reporting directly to the BHS Director, the successful candidate will assist in the department's ongoing document scanning initiative led by the Scanning/Record Retention manager. The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing documents for scanning, ensuring that all paper-based records are accurately prepared prior to scanning, keeping documents and binders organized, utilizing image scanning equipment to scan, create high-quality images and index various types of documents, monitoring image creation and adjust scanning equipment and software as required in order to produce high-quality images, performing quality control and quality assurance of all scanned digital images, ensuring proper naming conventions are used, indexing documents accurately under correct document type/file structure, and preparing scanned documents for off-site storage or destruction.
Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements: A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience. Skills Requirement: Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
Preferred Skills

Previous experience in scanning preferred.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
