Job description:
The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for a Senior Receptionist in the Visitor Engagement Department who demonstrates exceptional customer service skills by warmly greeting all visitors to the Museum's Reception areas (Museum guests, members, staff, trustees, educators, groups, messengers, study center and library users). Additional responsibilities include:
Maintains visitor log and carefully registers guests according to security procedures (e.g., issues the appropriate security guest pass or sticker). Announces visitors to staff via telephone or e-mail and directs visitors to them to Museum offices.
Receives and distributes incoming/outgoing packages, postal and interoffice mail, Federal Express and UPS packages, and deliveries. Maintains delivery logs. Distributes brochures, applications, and other written materials to guests upon request.
Answers Museum phone calls with warmth and enthusiasm. Provides general information on admission fees, hours of operation, policies, exhibitions, film schedules, transportation, directions, staff telephone numbers, fax numbers, etc. Transfers calls to MoMA departments as needed.
Maintains the Museum's general e-mail box. Replies to general inquiries in a pleasant tone and timely manner, forwards correspondence to departments as needed, tracks departmental responses. Sends and receives staff emails, accesses MoMA web site and staff directory for visitor queries and the Internet for work-related research.
Maintains statistical data and generates regular reports on incoming calls and e-mails. Answers and forwards all calls to the Museum switchboard expediently to appropriate MoMA departments and staff members.
Assists in coordination of departmental customer service training initiatives, including the daily MoMA MeMO, new hire orientation packets, and information sheets. Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and six months or more prior customer service experience or equivalent.
Prior receptionist/office experience.
Exceptional communication and customer service skills, both face-to-face and over the phone.
Strong organizational and attention to detail.
Excellent writing skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs.
Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with one or more languages in addition to English preferred.
Fully vaccinated with a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and/or the World Health Organization authorized vaccine (or approved for an exemption as a reasonable accommodation due to a qualified disability or sincerely held religious belief or other legal basis). Salary: The salary for this position is $23.64 per hour.
