North Shore Steel is seeking an experienced vertical machining craftsman to join our team in Houston.
General Description
This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor. The work scope is to operate the 2000 Ton Press Brake Machine. The Press Brake is a manufacturing equipment that is used to bend sheet metal.
Primary Duties
Operates a press brake to manufacture tools, equipment, and other components from sheet metal or metal plates.
Prepares, sets up, and adjusts press brake as required by product plans and production schedules.
Ensures that there are sufficient raw materials available.
Measures and aligns materials to be used.
Inspects products, evaluating finished pieces for compliance with quality standards and specifications.
Performs routine daily, weekly, monthly preventative maintenance on the press brake.
Understands all functions on the 2000 Ton Press Brake including but not limited to programming, appropriate instruction manuals, appropriate adjustments to processes.
Trouble shoot machinery and report problems to supervisor/management.
Maintains a clean work area.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills
Ability to safely and effectively operate or learn to operate press brake controls.
Ability to follow instructions.
Ability to read, interpret, and follow product plans.
Basic computer and math skills.
At least one year of experience in metal fabrication or related work preferred.
Physical Requirements
Physically able to operate the press brake.
Prolonged periods of standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying materials.
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs independently at a time.
Experience
2 – 4 years of operating a Heavy Press Brake machine or previous experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment is preferred.
