Critical Facilities Engineer
Location:
Chicago, IL
Shift:
First Half Nights
What You’ll Be Doing:
Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems in a live data center environment
Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and emergency response for critical systems (UPS, generators, HVAC, fire suppression, etc.)
Monitor BMS and EPMS systems to ensure optimal performance
Support change management, incident response, and escalation procedures
Collaborate with vendors and contractors during maintenance and upgrades
Maintain detailed logs, reports, and compliance documentation
What You’ll Bring:
3+ years of experience in critical facilities or data center operations
Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems (HVAC, UPS, CRAC, generators)
Familiarity with CMMS, BMS, and EPMS platforms
Ability to work independently on night shifts with a proactive mindset
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Certifications such as EPA, NFPA, or trade licenses are a plus
