POSITION SUMMARY: Nestl Health Science is seeking a Packaging Specialist to optimize the performance and utilization of filling and packaging equipment, directly supporting efficient operations and informed capital investment decisions. This role provides hands-on technical leadership partnering closely with Operators, Supervisors, and cross-functional teams to drive packaging improvements and project execution. The impact of this role is criticalimproving reliability, efficiency, and scalability of packaging operations to support business growth. The position requires strong technical judgment, collaboration, and the ability to work independently. This is an onsite role based at our Eau Claire, WI manufacturing site and requires travel to Savannah, GA; Bridgewater, NJ; and frequent travel to Anderson, IN, including a 6-month onsite assignment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Packaging
Aseptic Support installation, commissioning, qualification, and validation of aseptic packaging processes and equipment
Ensure aseptic process parameters and operating conditions meet Nestl standards
Partner with cross-functional teams to identify design risks and opportunities to improve manufacturability and production efficiency
Resolve packaging design issues with Operations and recommend improvements to enhance performance and reliability
Contribute to the NHSc US CTAG (Category Technical Applications Group) sustainability roadmap in collaboration with NPTC-TCU (Nestle Product Technology Center) partners
Packaging System Performance & Productivity Serve as packaging subject matter expert to drive improvements in productivity, quality, cost, sustainability, and consumer value
Lead or support development and implementation of new and improved packaging concepts, materials, and processes
Provide technical leadership in supplier selection and management; maintain strong vendor and industry relationships to stay ahead of emerging trends
Partner with Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, and Sales/Marketing to deliver material qualification and packaging initiatives
Support installation, commissioning, and line layout modifications for new or upgraded packaging equipment
Packaging Process Mastery & Reliability Lead packaging material and process capabilities to deliver measurable factory performance and quality improvements
Support project execution and transition from project phase to sustaining manufacturing, including production ramp-up
Improve equipment reliability through Continuous Improvement and TPM in collaboration with Operations and Maintenance
Partner with Quality to strengthen product quality and compliance outcomes
Develop and maintain packaging process capability knowledge to drive long-term performance improvements
Recommend and lead packaging initiatives that reduce distribution cost, minimize damage, or create competitive advantage
Technical Development Lead plant-driven technical improvements aligned with global technology platforms
Leverage the global packaging network to implement state-of-the-art technical and continuous improvement solutions
Support corporate and enterprise-level packaging technology initiatives
Sustainability Understand existing local waste management streams to prioritize sustainable solution development
Close internal and external collaboration to develop optimized long-term solution
Introduce and deliver new and revised packaging concepts and processes focusing on environmental footprint, functionality and consumer value
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Materials Science, Packaging Science, Packaging or Mechanical Engineering, or related field, with MS preferred 3+ years of packaging experience within the food and beverage industry Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Clear understanding of packaging design, materials, equipment, and systems to include SAP Understanding of project lifecycle management, including scope, schedules, and deliverables Working knowledge of food safety, regulatory, and compliance standards Experience with Aseptic packaging is strongly preferred Ability to travel : 30%
SKILLS: Demonstrated project management experience leading or contributing to cross-functional teams Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to influence and align stakeholders Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement solutions efficiently Ability to convey complex and/or detailed information to a wide range of individuals/audiences with different knowledge levels Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-performance environment while managing multiple priorities
