Nursing Assistant

The nursing assistant works under the direct supervision of licensed nursing staff to provide direct patient care in accordance with established hospital policies, procedures and protocols.
Provide complete patient care and comfort, including bathing, oral hygiene, grooming, toileting, repositioning, dressing, mobility assistance, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
Perform and document routine clinical tasks such as vital signs, weights, intake and output, specimen collection, and basic treatments as directed by nursing staff.
Assist patients with meals, feeding as needed, and distribute nourishments and fresh water.
Support patient mobility and recovery by assisting with transfers, bed positioning, exercises, and application of ordered devices (e.g., elastic stockings, ice packs).
Respond promptly and courteously to call lights, assess patient needs, and communicate concerns to appropriate healthcare team members.
High school diploma or GED
AHA BLS required at hire, if not in place must be obtained within 1 week of hire
Completion of a Basic Nursing Assistant Program
Ability to read, write and perform arithmetic calculations for proper patient identification and to take and record weights, intake and output, and vital signs
Ability to perform effectively assigned routine patient care tasks
Possess interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively (up to 80% of work time) with sick and/or irritable patients in order to gain their cooperation and allay apprehensions
M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
