Patient Care Technician - Acute Care (FT Night Shift)
The Patient Care Tech assists with the functions of the Nursing Unit to which they are assigned. Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to CHN patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse. Scope is limited to their competency list and may vary slightly by unit.
Provides basic nursing care to patients within the PCT scope as defined by competency. Includes actions that meet the patient's psychosocial needs, physical needs, and communication needs.
Effectively communicate to the RN any observed changes in patient status and responses. Maintains awareness of the needs of the pediatric, geriatric, and general patient population.
Assists in admission, transfer, and discharge of patient. Assists with patient transfers, activities of daily living, assistance with nutrition, measuring intake and output, collecting vital signs, point of care tests to the extent of competency. Documents all care appropriately and accurately in medical record. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality. Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities. Demonstrates Shared Values with all inter-personal communication.
Attends at least 80% of in-service education programs, to learn new treatments, procedures, developmental skills etc. Maintains at least 80% attendance to unit staff meetings. Treats patient and families with respect and dignity.
Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations. Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department and in support of Curry Health Network's Mission, Vision and Shared Values.

Education & Experience: At least 1 year experience as CNA, EMT, or Medical Assistant preferred. Valid Oregon Certification as CNA, EMT or MA required within 14 months of hire. Valid AHA Healthcare Provider BLS Certification required.
Compassion and a desire to help patients. Attention to detail, observing and accurately reporting the patient's issues and findings to the responsible RN. Skill and ability to provide care to the extent defined by PCT competency. Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work with people in close situations, using excellent communication and listening skills. Strength and stamina to lift clients and provide necessary care. Documentation skills to accurately and appropriately capture the observations noted and treatment provided.
Physical Demands: On-the-job time is spent in the following physical activities: None of the time: Taste or Smell. Up to 1/3 of the time: Sit, Push/Pull, Stoop, Kneel, Crouch or Crawl. From 1/3 to 1/2 of the time: Walk and Reach with Hands & Arms. Up 2/3 of the time and more: Stand, Talk or Hear, Use Hands.
