Quality Specialist
The Quality Specialist will be responsible for process and product compliance with engineering drawings, repair manuals, QMS procedures, ISO standards, and specifications through rigorous inspections and audits.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform internal audits and review audit corrections and containments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve product defects and implement effective corrective actions.
Perform verifications of non-conformance and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain accurate inspection reports and records in support of the Quality Management System.
Provide training and defect awareness to shop personnel when non-conformances are found.
Drive process improvements by initiating and participating in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and documenting findings in the Continuous Improvement system.
Assist in developing procedures and work instructions when needed to sustain the process improvements.
Work with sourcing and supplier to help resolve supplier non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
Assist in improving routers and work scope/router compliance or other shop documentation.
Support Quality Department, up to including inspections.
Work with Quality Leader to conduct pre-hire characteristics verification test of turbine technician applicants.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications/Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
Minimum 5 years in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
Minimum 3 years inspecting heavy industrial rotating equipment like gas turbine power generation.
Minimum 2 years of QMS awareness or experience with ISO 9001 standards and Quality Management System procedures.
Understanding of turbines and Repair Manuals, Work Scopes, Service Bulletins, and Changes in Designs (CIDs), including Aero Derivative gas Turbines.
Proficient in computer skills: able to create, edit, and format data in Excel spreadsheets; create, modify, and edit using the current business database; create detailed PowerPoint presentations that include digital photographic inspection records.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Desired Characteristics:
RCA/troubleshooting experience with ability to significantly drive process and culture changes.
Lead Auditor Certified.
Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, code specifications, and technical manuals to verify products that follow the requirements set forth in these documents.
Knowledge of quality software programs, Gensuite is a plus.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and Quality Management System procedures.
Capable of working with minimum supervision and has strong written and oral communication skills.
Technical writing ability; able to create clear instruction to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
Ability to interface professionally with various stakeholders (e.g., engineering, operations, sourcing, customers, suppliers, and external inspection agencies).
Certified A&P License and Test Cell knowledge is a plus.
Ability to operate cranes, forklifts, and other moving equipment.
Experience with lean action workouts.
