CNC Programmer
Program CNC manufacturing machines based on specifications provided through Product Development Engineering and good manufacturing process. Update and troubleshoot programs as needed.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Utilize appropriate programming software to generate CNC programs for various sheet metal and woods processing equipment
Plans numerical control program to control contour path machining of production parts on automatic computerized machine tools by analyzing drawings, sketches and design data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools and machine speeds and feed rates
Determines reference points and direction of machine cutting paths
Computes angular and linear dimensions, radii and curvatures, and outlines of sequence of operations required to machine part
Prepares geometric layout using computer-assisted drafting software to show location of reference points and direction of cutting paths
Writes instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine
Compares simulation with CAD data to assure accuracy of machine instructions
Support manufacturing with program revisions when errors and/or omissions are found
Observe and verify programs are correct when performing trial runs on designated equipment
Develop production routes based on most efficient equipment for required operations
Requirements:
Associate's Degree (A.A.)
Three to five years of related work experience in manufacturing, programming, or machining
OR equivalent combination of education and experience
