Volunteers of AmericaGreater New York (VOAGreater New York) is a leading anti-poverty organization serving neighbors in need across New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester. Through 70+ programs, we support over 35,000 adults and children each year, including individuals experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, youth aging out of foster care, veterans, seniors, and children with developmental delays.

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following position:
Position: Front Desk Monitor
The Front Desk Monitor answers telephone calls and takes messages for staff, receives and assists visitors, receives and routes deliveries, aids residents, and controls front door access.
Empower Residence is a 24/7 transitional housing program for women, operating under HRA/DSS guidelines. As an enhanced shelter, we support residents facing challenges such as mental health needs, substance use, unemployment, and poverty. To learn more about the program, visit VOA-GNY's website.
Location: New York, NY 10023
Minimum Qualifications:
High school degree or GED preferred with at least two years of relevant experience.
A Must possess a polite and pleasant manner, be efficient and firm, and have the ability to operate a busy front desk/security operation.
Must be able to perform diverse tasks with ease and maintain confidentiality.
Certifications that are required within 90 days of hire (3 months) VOA will cover the cost:
Coordinator of Fire Safety & Alarms (F80)
Food Service Handler Certificate
Fire Guard (F02)
Certifications that are required within 180 days of hire (6 months) VOA will cover the cost:
CPR/First Aid Certificate
Front Desk Monitor Principal Responsibilities:
Greet all visitors; assist them directly or announce their arrival to staff or residents.
Ensure that all clients sign in and out as required.
Route mail and deliveries as required.
Handle or assist in crisis intervention.
Follow assigned procedures in emergency situations.
Conduct rounds at residence as assigned
