Michael Foods, Inc. located in Gaylord, Minnesota is Minnesota's Healthy Heartland! Gaylord is located in south central Minnesota about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. As the County Seat, Gaylord is the "Hub of Sibley County." Our location produces liquid egg, hardcook egg, and precooked egg such as scrambled, patties and omelets.
The Production Supervisor oversees a team responsible for completing production and sanitation tasks. The role involves planning, directing, and coordinating the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing food products ensuring adherence to safety, quality, quantity specifications, and cost.
Key skills include people management, operational and sanitation knowledge, training ability, developing expectations, driving results with data, and follow-through.
The Production Supervisor ensures compliance with all company and regulatory processes, including but not limited to Safety, Food Safety, Human Resources, and job-specific requirements. They work to continuously improve production and sanitation best practices through training, standards development, data analysis, escalations, and reporting.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Leading team members to support safety, food safety, operations, sanitation, and personnel development. Ensuring a safe and healthy workplace.
Keeping management informed about operational, quality, safety issues, employee concerns, and production cost control.
Adhering to safe work practices, GMPs, and maintaining product quality. Reporting any conditions affecting food safety, quality, or personnel safety to management.
Producing the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost consistent with good manufacturing practices.
Recognizing and taking steps to resolve operating problems to minimize their impact on operations.
Requesting and directing services of maintenance, sanitation, and other personnel as necessary to achieve the desired level and quality of production, sanitation, safety and warehouse services.
Being responsible for ingredient, packaging usage, and all other department costs.
Encouraging suggestions from employees to improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs of production.
Participating on plant safety team. Always ensuring regulatory compliance.
Cooperating with all departments to ensure a coordinated work relationship always exists.
Enforcing company policies in a fair and consistent manner.
Maintaining consistent communications and participating in and leading meetings as required.
Leading and/or participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
Developing self and team members' skill sets to continuously improve work standards and performance.
Driving individual accountability and ownership of results. Fostering accountability for direct reports in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
Keeping accurate and up-to-date records (i.e. timekeeping, downtime records, absentee records, etc.).
Being accountable for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhering to all safety policies and procedures and incorporating safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
Being willing to work overtime or weekends when required.
Having minimal travel required.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and experience required:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
2- 3 years supervisory experience, preferably in the food industry. Or a college degree in engineering.
Skills and abilities:
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team building skills.
Ability to prioritize and follow directions with little
o supervision.
Strong organizational skills and ability to perform multi-functional tasks.
Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends when required.
Bi-lingual is a plus.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in group situations.
Ability to solve practical problems.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in various formats.
Ability to learn and utilize various technology systems.
The pay range for this position is $70,386 - $98,541 per year.
