Job Description
CTR Group is seeking several Conventional Machinists in Mobile, AL. Immediate openings and urgently hiring! Key Responsibilities: Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, and related machining equipment to machine steel, aluminum, and alloy components. Interpret blueprints, sketches, and work instructions to determine machining methods, tooling, and sequence of operations. Measure, mark, and prepare raw material; verify dimensions using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision tools. Perform layout, drilling, tapping, boring, facing, and milling operations on a variety of part sizes. Adjust machine feeds, speeds, and tooling to maintain accuracy and surface finish requirements. Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet tolerances and quality standards; make corrections as needed. Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety procedures related to machining, lifting, and material handling. Collaborate with welders, fabricators, and supervisors to support production schedules and resolve machining challenges. Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues promptly. Qualifications 3+ years of experience as a Manual Machinist in a job?shop, fabrication, or manufacturing environment. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and machining symbols. Proficiency with manual mills and lathes; experience with large or heavy components is a plus. Skilled in using precision measuring instruments and verifying tight tolerances. Ability to lift 4050 lbs and work safely around fabrication and machining operations. Solid understanding of machining fundamentals, cutting tools, workholding, and material properties. Strong problem?solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
