Under general supervision, to perform duties in the paraprofessional job category and to perform other related duties as required. Examples Of Duties, Responsibilities And Expectations

Performs paraprofessional staff support to department managers by coordinating assigned tasks related to the personnel function, scheduling and control, records management, service delivery programs and/or management studies; implements directions from superiors that are provided orally and/or in writing; establish office methods and procedures; compiles and edits data; prepares reports that include conclusions and recommendations; compose, type, edit and review memos and correspondences; receives service requests and provides information to the public in person, by telephone, or through written correspondence where judgment, knowledge and interpretive skills may be required; reviews and checks documents, records and forms; processes reservations and handles petty cash; supervises and trains personnel; may coordinate and assign work to others; operates motor vehicle while performing various duties that include attending conferences, meetings and seminars as liaison representative.
Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of: Basic information on materials, equipment, regulations, principles, procedures and/or practices necessary to perform required duties including but not limited to correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation, business letter writing and forms, basic methods used in financial and statistical record keeping, survey techniques, principles of effective supervision and training, and effective interviewing techniques. Ability to: Satisfactorily perform required duties including but not limited to the ability to operate a word processor and typewriter with speed, skill, and accuracy; read, speak, write and understand the English language; work overtime; adhere to applicable terms and conditions of employment including but not limited to safety and health regulations, labor agreements, City rules and regulations, policies and procedures; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of California. Education and Experience: Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the knowledge and ability necessary to perform required duties.
Supplemental Information

Selection process may include but is not limited to: Application review and evaluation, written examination, performance test and interview. All employment offers made by the City are contingent upon establishing proof of a prospective candidate's legal authorization to work in the United States and successfully passing all components of the pre-employment process. The pre-employment process may include but not be limited to: Reference checks, background investigation, fingerprint-based criminal history check, credit check, degree verification, and post-offer medical examination and drug test. For public safety positions, including positions based in the Police and/or Fire Department(s), the pre-employment process may also include but not be limited to a P.O.S.T. compliant background check, polygraph examination, post-offer medical examination and drug test, and post-offer psychological examination.
