UCI Health Ambulatory Clinic Position

UCI Health is the clinical enterprise of the University of California, Irvine, and the only academic health system based in Orange County. UCI Health is comprised of its main campus, UCI Medical Center, a 459-bed, acute care hospital in Orange, Calif., four hospitals and affiliated physicians of the UCI Health Community Network in Orange and Los Angeles counties and ambulatory care centers across the region.
Your Role on the Team
Position Summary: Incumbent serves as first point of contact for patients in the ambulatory clinics. Performs general clerical and reception duties. Enters patient data to the registration system and verifies insurance and/or third party coverage. Schedules, confirms, and cancels patient appointments.

Required Qualifications: Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties. Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. Must be able to work weekends/holidays. Demonstrated experience using office equipment such as a printer, copier, fax, scanner. Demonstrated experience using multi-line telephone system. Demonstrated experience using a computer, including data entry and retrieval. Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to make simple calculations and perform simple math. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System. Ability to effectively read, write and speak English.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology. Demonstrated knowledge of insurance programs and/or government programs. Demonstrated experience working with TDS, Signature, IDX. Demonstrated experience working in registration, scheduling and/or authorization process. Demonstrated experience working in a hospital or medical office setting. Bilingual skill in Spanish or Vietnamese or Chinese.
