Welder/Fitter/Fabricator
Compass Systems is seeking a welder for our Barberton, Ohio location. Essential duties include fitting, welding, and cleaning weldments into finished parts by performing the following:
Drive forklift to move parts into and out of work area.
Must be able to safely rig and move parts with overhead crane.
Read detailed blueprints and follow instructions.
Being able to layout, fit, and weld metal parts to hit critical dimensions.
Weld in all positions with mig, stick, and tig.
Check you are using proper wire, gas, and machine settings on welder.
Must be able to repair or modify existing or refurbished parts.
Must be able to maintain and use oxygen/ acetylene torch and hand plasma cutter.
Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
Preheat workpiece with torch.
Safely use and maintain hand tools (Grinders, air motors, porta-power, clamps, etc.)
Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or spatter.
Show up on time and work scheduled hours.
Must be able to take direction and work well with others.
Other duties as assigned
work overtime when needed.
Knowledge/skills required include:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous welding experience.
Must be comfortable welding 22ga
" thick steel or stainless steel.
Motivated individual possessing the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
Demonstrates positive safety attitude.
Being able to identify problems and inform supervisor.
Ability to stand for 9 or more hours and able to lift up to 75 lbs.
