Bus Monitor
Monitors safe and efficient transportation for students on routes, to special classes or to work stations.
Knowledge:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must pass a required medical exam and drug test, have a good driving record and pass a felony background check, able to read and write. Patience is required for this position.
Skills:
Retain skills in boarding, safe lifting and transporting of special needs individuals. Must be able to get along with students and other staff members and to provide effective discipline for students.
Machines/Equipment:
School bus and wheel chair lift
Essential Job Function:
Observe all safety regulations
Maintain discipline when students are being transported
Follow assigned schedules (timely)
Discharge students only at authorized stops
Transport only authorized students
Report all accidents and complete required reports
Responsibilities include:
Assist handicapped students in and out of vehicle
Keep appropriate records
Monitor special needs students prior to/during transporting
Assist driver
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
