Job Summary: The Warehouse Lead supports daily warehouse operations under the direction of the Branch Manager and provides hands-on leadership to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient order fulfillment. This role serves as a working lead, coordinating daily assignments, coaching team members, enforcing safety practices, and assisting with inventory control and material handling activities. The Warehouse Lead acts as a key liaison between warehouse associates and leadership to support productivity, quality control, and clear communication, while performing the same core warehouse functions as the team.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Assist with scheduling and oversee daily work assignments to ensure quality, accuracy, and maximum productivity.
Lead and assist with receiving, storing, handling, and shipping of product, materials, and supplies.
Coordinate and oversee daily cycle counts and support inventory accuracy initiatives.
Perform and support warehouse functions including order pulling, staging, loading, unloading, stocking, and bin maintenance.
Supervise warehouse activities such as truck loading/unloading, inventory movement, and restocking.
Enforce safe work practices and coach team members on proper material handling and warehouse safety standards.
Observe work practices to ensure compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
Assist with onboarding and training of new warehouse associates.
Identify, analyze, and assist in resolving workflow or operational issues.
Establish or adjust work procedures as needed to meet deadlines and operational demands.
Verify product availability and in-stock status to support sales and customer needs.
Support shipping and/or receiving operations, as assigned.
Ensure completion of daily warehouse assignments and operational tasks.
Provide leadership support to supervisors and act as a communication bridge between management and warehouse staff.
Lead the work of warehouse associates performing similar duties; may set priorities, assign work, and review task completion.
Manage daily warehouse operations in the absence of the Warehouse Manager and/or General Manager, as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned to support branch operations.
Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or GED required.
3+ years of warehouse experience, preferably in a distribution or logistics environment.
Demonstrated ability to lead by example and provide day-to-day guidance to warehouse associates.
Strong customer focus with effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment with shifting priorities.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and safety awareness.
Basic computer skills and ability to learn inventory or warehouse management systems.
Ability to work independently while supporting team-based operations.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements (if applicable):
Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, pushing, and pulling.
Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds occasionally.
Regular use of warehouse equipment and material handling tools.
Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and warehouse conditions.
