CNC Machinist and Programmer

The CNC Machinist and Programmer performs intermediate to complex machining and CNC programming to produce high-quality prototype and production parts. This position is ideal for a machinist who has mastered fundamental machining skills and is ready to take on more complex setups, programming tasks, and problem-solving with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC lathes and manual machines to produce high-quality prototype and production parts.
Create and modify CNC programs using Mastercam, Surfcam, or similar CAM software for both 2D and 3D machining.
Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine machining operations, sequence, and tooling requirements.
Program parts directly at the machine and/or offline, ensuring efficient tool paths and accurate dimensions.
Perform intermediate to complex machining operations, including complex setups and multi-step processes, with minimal supervision.
Verify part dimensions using appropriate measuring tools and adjust programs or setups to maintain tight tolerances and quality standards.
Troubleshoot machining and programming issues and implement effective solutions to improve part quality and cycle times.
Collaborate with team members to support both prototype and production runs, ensuring on-time delivery and consistent quality.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in alignment with shop standards.
Document and update setup information, programs, and process notes to support repeatability and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills

Proven experience setting up and operating CNC lathes for both prototype and production work.
Strong proficiency in CNC programming, including creating and editing programs at the machine and/or offline.
Hands-on experience with Mastercam programming for 2D and 3D machining operations.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
Solid manual machining skills, including operating conventional machine tools as needed.
Experience programming and machining complex parts with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with Surfcam or similar CAM software in addition to Mastercam.
Familiarity with SolidWorks or similar CAD software for reviewing models and supporting programming.
Background in both prototype and production machining environments.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machining and programming issues.
Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60320.00 - $68640.00/yr. Enjoy career advancement opportunities and a flexible schedule.
