Packer B Shift (650p-7a)
Responsible for operation of machinery to pack and/or palletize product. Must acquire understanding of packing requirements and operations of machinery including palletizers, strapping machines, wrapping machines, forklifts, and overall flow of product.
General job responsibilities include exhibiting teamwork skills, demonstrating problem solving skills, following company policies, adhering to safety and health objectives, maintaining proper ergonomics, meeting customer quality standards, meeting daily production goals, cleaning work areas, and reporting malfunctioning equipment.
Essential duties and responsibilities include packaging finished product according to customer pack specifications, inspecting product for quality defects, documenting per product requirements, operating, loading, and making minor adjustments to box loader, inserter machine, and strapper.
Position requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required, previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, and the ability to read, write, and understand English.
Internal applicant additional requirements include meeting minimum requirements or qualifications, having less than 7 points for full-time/3.5 points for part-time, being in good standing, and being in the current position for 12 months.
Level of authority and authorization includes the right to hold for inspection any product that does not meet customer/company specifications, the ability to shut down/stop equipment if continued operation is a threat to any employee's health and safety, the authority to stop machines/production to communicate safety, quality, machine problems, and breakdowns to Production Lead, Supervisor or Maintenance Manager, and the ability to contact any member of Management without fear of reprisal concerning questions, suggestions, or complaints regarding quality, working condition or job environment.
Work environment includes performing job near moving mechanical parts and occasionally in high, precarious places, requiring the use of eye protection, head protection, hearing protection, cut resistant gloves, and high visibility clothing. Other required PPE is task specific. GMP procedures are observed in all areas of the plant.
Physical demands include standing or walking a minimum of twelve (12) hours a day, lifting up to 5 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis, and performing work that is below the knees and above the shoulders on an occasional basis.
