Position Overview
Our Dental Assistant II at our Carolina Family Dental Center in Elm City, NC, provide quality of care and services to patients by assisting dentists and other staff in patient care, office, and laboratory duties. This position offers a 40-hour workweek, no weekends, full benefits package, 12 paid holidays, bi-weekly pay.
Essential Tasks
Builds and maintains a positive relationship with patients.
Provides patient instruction and demonstration where necessary, as directed by the dentist.
Reviews treatment plans with patients and provide oral hygiene instruction as directed.
Assists dentist in all phases of dental care.
Prepares operatories for examinations and procedures.
Initiates review of patient's medical history and perform initial assessment or triage of incoming patients.
Assists in documentation of dental records, under direct supervision of the dentist.
Properly disposes of all biohazardous waste.
Performs all allowable functions of a Dental Assistant II, as defined by the North Carolina State Dental Board of Examiners under the direct control and supervision of a dentist.
Helps maintain dental equipment per manufacturer's recommendations.
Assist in other areas of the office when necessary (phones, supplies, moving dismissed patient records).
Attends monthly and quarterly staff meetings.
Adheres to safety and security policies and procedures and use equipment and materials properly.
Adheres to CFHC, Inc. compliance program standards; including quality improvement, risk management and standards of conduct.
Experience and Education
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum one year of dental assistant experience.
Successful completion of a radiation safety course and infectious control class, as required by the State of North Carolina.
Great communication and patient interaction skills.
Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
Basic computer skills.
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Schedule
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 8 am
5 pm 8-hour shift Day shift Thursday 8 am - 7 pm, 10-hour shift, afternoon shift
Physical Requirements
Individuals may need to sit or stand for long periods of time, occasional bending, stooping, lifting including of patients, reaching forwards and overhead.
Possibly requires walking primarily on a level service for periods throughout the day.
Both proper lifting techniques and frequent computer work are required.
Must be able to travel freely in the local area; between clinics, hospitals, health departments, etc.
