Registered Dietitian (Preventive & Lifestyle Medicine Focus) New York
Akido Labs, Inc., New York, NY, United States
Registered Dietitian (Preventive & Lifestyle Medicine Focus)
New York
Akido builds AI‑powered doctors. Akido is the first AI‑native care provider, combining cutting‑edge technology with a nationwide medical network to address America’s physician shortage and make exceptional healthcare universal. Its AI empowers doctors to deliver faster, more accurate, and more compassionate care.
Serving 500K+ patients across California, Rhode Island, and New York, Akido offers primary and specialty care in 26 specialties—from serving unhoused communities in Los Angeles to ride‑share drivers in New York.
We’re building something new for New York City’s independent drivers—the people who keep the city moving but are often left out of traditional healthcare systems. Together with the Independent Drivers Guild and the Workers Benefit Fund (WBF), we launched the Worker Healthy Living Program (WHLP)—a lifestyle medicine–informed program designed to help drivers live healthier, longer lives through food, movement, sleep, stress management, and community.
We’re looking for a
Registered Dietitian (RD)
who believes nutrition is not about restriction or perfection—but about empowerment, cultural relevance, and sustainable change. This role is for a dietitian who wants to move beyond one‑off counseling sessions and instead help design, deliver, and scale a
relationship‑based, group‑oriented nutrition model
for an underserved workforce.
This isn’t a traditional outpatient dietitian role.
You’ll be part of a small, interdisciplinary care team—including physicians, advanced practice clinicians, a health coach, social worker, and medical assistant—working across in‑person, virtual, and community‑based settings. You’ll lead nutrition‑focused group visits, support six‑month lifestyle medicine programs, and work closely with clinicians to integrate nutrition into chronic disease prevention and management.
Beyond direct care, you’ll help shape how nutrition shows up in the model itself—from curriculum and educational materials to workflows, patient engagement strategies, and digital tools. You’ll partner with Akido’s AI‑powered platform to make nutrition care more accessible and personalized, while keeping the human connection front and center.
This is a zero‑to‑one opportunity.
You’ll join early, with real ownership over how the nutrition component of the program is built, tested, and scaled. We’re looking for a dietitian who’s energized by ambiguity, excited to experiment, and motivated to help turn a promising pilot into a sustainable model for improving health in underserved communities.
This program is grounded in evidence and designed to prevent and manage conditions such as obesity, pre‑diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia—while also addressing the mental, social, and environmental realities that shape how people eat.
If you’re passionate about food justice, behavior change, and building something from the ground up—this is your opportunity to help reimagine what nutrition care can look like.
You’ll Be a Great Fit If You
Thrive in collaborative, interdisciplinary care teams
Are comfortable working in an early‑stage, evolving environment and helping create structure where none exists yet
Enjoy both direct patient care and program design
Believe nutrition education should be practical, culturally responsive, and grounded in real life
Want to build long‑term relationships with patients—not just deliver one‑time advice
Are excited to work across settings, from a community clinic in Williamsburg to virtual and mobile care across NYC
What You’ll Do
Provide individual and group‑based nutrition care to program participants
Lead and co‑facilitate shared medical visits focused on nutrition within a Lifestyle Medicine framework
Design and deliver practical, culturally relevant nutrition education for drivers with diverse backgrounds and schedules
Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice clinicians, health coaches, and social workers to support whole‑person care
Support prevention and management of chronic conditions including diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and hyperlipidemia
Help design, refine, and scale nutrition workflows that are accessible, engaging, and sustainable
Contribute to the development of patient‑facing educational content, tools, and resources
Provide real‑time feedback on digital and AI‑enabled tools used to track progress and personalize nutrition support
Participate in community events, enrollment activations, and outreach efforts
Pilot new models of group nutrition care, mobile programming, and community‑based engagement
Help ensure nutrition remains a central pillar of the program as it grows and scales
Required Qualifications
Active New York State licensure or eligibility
2+ years of experience in clinical nutrition, community nutrition, or chronic disease management
Strong communication, facilitation, and cross‑cultural skills
Comfort working in group settings, virtual care, and community‑based environments
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with lifestyle medicine, preventive care, or cardiometabolic health
Experience working in a startup or early‑stage program environment
Background in community health, public health nutrition, or food systems
Experience leading group education or shared medical visits
Interest in digital health and openness to using AI‑enabled tools to support care
Deep personal or professional connection to the communities we serve
Benefits
Medical, dental, and vision insurance
401(k)
Paid time off and sick leave
Life insurance
Paid leave program
This is a
hybrid role , with work spanning community clinics, partner organizations, and virtual platforms across New York City. You’ll also spend time collaborating in person from
Akido’s Brooklyn headquarters , using the office as a home base for care team connection, planning, and program development.
Flexibility is essential, as the role may involve nontraditional hours—including early mornings, evenings, or weekends—to meet drivers where they are.
Salary range
$85,000 - $110,000 USD
