Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented
VTL Machine Operator
to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating large-scale vertical turning lathes to produce precision metal components in a fast-paced environment. This role is vital to ensuring parts meet specifications for quality, size, and function.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate Vertical Turning Lathe machines to perform turning, facing, and boring operations
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions
Select appropriate tools, set proper speeds and feeds, and ensure correct machine alignment
Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.)
Perform minor programming edits or offsets to improve part quality
Maintain accurate production and inspection records
Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace
Assist with routine maintenance and troubleshooting of machines
Qualifications:
3+ years of VTL or related CNC machining experience preferred
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T symbols
Strong understanding of machine shop math and precision measurement
Familiarity with large-part handling and overhead cranes a plus
Dependable work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team
High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical training is a plus
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
Manual dexterity to operate tools and machine controls
