The Role
Sensus, a Xylem brand, is looking for a talented
Software Development Engineer
to join our FieldLogic team - where cutting-edge technology meets meaningful impact. In this role, you'll harness the power of
modern AI tools
(including Claude Code) alongside a strong foundation in software engineering principles to design, develop, and deliver solutions that power Xylem's FlexNet Smart Metering platform. Your work will directly help utilities and communities around the world manage water, gas, and electric resources more intelligently and sustainably. From Cloud to Mobile, you'll build applications that interface with Sensus Smart Meters - driving real innovation at the intersection of smart infrastructure, environmental stewardship, and the future of connected communities.
Core Responsibilities
· Collaborate in the design, development, and maintenance of Cloud and Mobile application features, leveraging modern AI-assisted development tools (like Claude Code) to accelerate delivery and drive innovation.
· Partner with cross-functional engineering teams - spanning firmware, software, and hardware - to deliver seamlessly integrated solutions.
· Troubleshoot and debug complex software issues, providing efficient and creative solutions.
· Develop applications using C#/.NET and modern web frameworks to deliver intuitive user experiences.
· Apply design patterns and unit testing to ensure robust, scalable software solutions.
· Contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, participating in Agile development processes.
· Support Xylem Watermark volunteer initiatives to create sustainable community impact.

Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
· 1-3 years of experience developing software applications in a collaborative team environment.
· Proficiency in C#/.NET (WPF/UWP) and/or front-end technologies such as Blazor, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
· Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and unit testing principles.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate ideas clearly across technical and non-technical audiences.
· Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with Entity Framework and SQL Server or similar relational databases.
· Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira.
· Experience working in remote or globally distributed team environments.
· Exposure to large-scale, high-performance system architectures.
