UWCSEA Dover is seeking an experienced and committed Theatre Technician to join our Drama department as soon as possible.
The primary purpose of this role is to provide technical and design support for events, with a specific focus on sound and projection design. These events include Drama and Dance productions, Primary Arts Festivals, Global Concerns (GC), and other events as determined by the Head of Drama.
Main Responsibilities

Design sound and projection for events, particularly Drama productions, working in conjunction with teacher directors
Training and supervising students in running sound and projection for events
Maintain and manage the College’s theatre resources, equipment and inventory, including maintenance of stores
Maintain and manage, in coordination with the Head of Drama, the sound strand of the Drama Productions budget
Technically coordinate productions, events and arts festivals
Manage the live and recorded sound setup and mixing for events
Person Specifications

Min. Diploma or professional certificate in relevant area of technical expertise, particularly lighting, sound or stage/production management
A minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
Sound and projection design and operation skills are essential and an understanding of theatre lighting would be a bonus
Proficient with Qlab, Millumin and other similar applications would be advantageous
Safe working practices, especially with regards to working at height, are essential
Ability to work with appropriate document and spreadsheet software to effectively coordinate and plan is essential
Ability to communicate with teacher-directors, event coordinators, students, other departments, outside contractors and Facilities is essential
Strong organisational skills to manage workflow, budgets and demands on time are essential
Ability to work creatively to solve design challenges and support the work of teacher-directors and event coordinators with innovative approaches to sound is highly advantageous
Ability to set up and work with digital audio editing and manipulation and wireless audio networks would be highly advantageous
Collaborative skills of working as part of a team to support the productions and events as required are highly advantageous
Advanced practical skills of video editing and projection mapping skills would be highly advantageous
Experience working with young people is a distinct advantage
Enthusiasm for working with young people is essential
