Overview
Hospice of the Midwest is seeking a compassionate and creative Music Therapist to cover the Guthrie Center service area and some of Des Moines. This PRN position emphasizes patient comfort, connection, and dignity through the healing power of music. Location: covers Guthrie Center service area and some of Des Moines. Schedule: PRN.

Responsibilities
Assess patients’ functional status, music-related responses, and preferences
Develop individualized treatment plans to help patients meet goals
Deliver music therapy using instruments, singing, movement, and listening
Monitor and evaluate patient progress regularly and update care team
Maintain accurate clinical records and communicate changes in patient condition
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care
Participate in meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives
Educate patients, families, caregivers, and staff on treatment plans

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in music therapy from an AMTA-approved program
Board-certified (MT-BC) by CBMT
Preferred: 2 years clinical music therapy experience
Valid driver’s license with insured, reliable vehicle
Strong verbal, written communication, and organizational skills
Understanding of hospice philosophy and end-of-life issues
