The role collaborates with vendors, library users, and colleagues to procure resources, troubleshoot material processing, and maintain accurate cataloging records.

Title: Senior Library Specialist (working title: Acquisitions Assistant)
Location: Salt Lake City, UT – Campus (hybrid on‑campus/remote, as needed)
Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8 am‑6 pm (some evenings and weekends may be required)
Pay Range: $20.00 – $20.85 per hour
FLSA Code: Non‑exempt (Full‑time)

Responsibilities
Process transactions and maintain accurate records of information resources, including documentation for invoices, licenses, and payments, and audit records for errors.
Process materials and update holdings, monitoring titles and accessibility to maintain an accurate knowledge base.
Maintain and edit bibliographic records using current cataloging standards.
Maintain vendor relationships and assist with user questions; communicate with vendors for purchases, cancellations, payments, and problem resolution.
Document and improve workflows, policies, and procedures.
Assist with departmental and special projects as instructed.
Minimum Qualifications
Four years of library experience or an equivalent combination of work and education (one year of education can substitute for two years of related experience). Knowledge of specialized library techniques, research, and organizational skills is required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also necessary; some supervisory experience may be preferred. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the description.
Preferred Qualifications
Purchasing and/or accounting experience.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently, promoting effective teamwork.
Experience with OCLC and/or copy cataloging in an ILS.
Experience with library collections or serial collections.
Proficiency with information technology systems in an academic library context.
Proficiency in a second language (reading, writing, or speaking).
