Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented laboratory professional to join a well-established, collaborative team at our Berkeley facility. In this onsite role, you will play a critical part in supporting the release of commercial and clinical products by performing mycoplasma testing, PCR-based assays, and a variety of virology testing activities within a GMP environment. This is a hands-on opportunity to develop and refine your microbiological skill set while working alongside a seasoned team of analysts and specialists who bring decades of combined experience to the department. Your contributions will directly support the business by helping meet product release timelines and ensuring that all testing activities are conducted in compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols. This role was created to support an increase in workload, making your impact immediate and meaningful from day one.
Responsibilities:
- Support day-to-day operations within the QC Virology laboratory
- Perform mycoplasma testing and a variety of virology assays to support GMP, clinical, and development product release
- Ensure all testing activities comply with Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, regulatory guidelines, and safety protocols
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the laboratory environment
- Demonstrate the ability to learn new techniques and achieve proficiency in assigned assays
- Support method verifications for clinical and commercial products
- Work collaboratively within a team of analysts and specialists to meet product release timelines
- Utilize aseptic technique when performing laboratory tasks
- Prioritize and manage multiple diverse activities simultaneously while meeting schedule commitments
- Occasionally work weekends or holidays as needed to support operational demands
Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of GMP principles and regulatory guidelines
- Proficiency in aseptic technique and cell culture methods
- Experience with mycoplasma testing and PCR-based assays
- Familiarity with compendial requirements is a plus
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with a proven ability to follow written procedures
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Flexibility and efficiency in a dynamic, fast-paced laboratory environment
- Strong leadership qualities and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant laboratory experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
- Prior experience working in a GMP environment is strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience with mycoplasma testing, cell culture techniques, and PCR is highly desirable
- Background in performing microbiological assays in a regulated laboratory setting is preferred
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or a related scientific field is required
