Job Description: NVIDIA Autonomous Vehicle Safety Manager - Santa Clara CA
The Autonomous Vehicle Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing safety compliance, incident management, and risk mitigation across NVIDIA’s Autonomous Vehicle project operations. This role ensures all field activities adhere to NVIDIA‑defined safety standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and continuously improve Safety Management Systems (SMS) across AV field operations
Develop and enforce safety policies aligned with NVIDIA AV requirements and industry best practices
Monitor, analyze, and report on safety performance metrics, KPIs, and incident trends
Build and maintain safety dashboards to track leading and lagging indicators
Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analyses, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Oversee regulatory reporting and compliance, including DMV, NHTSA, and other applicable agencies
Partner with Driver Coordinators to reinforce field‑level safety adherence and accountability
Support driver qualification, defensive driving programs, and ongoing safety training initiatives
Prepare and deliver safety reporting for weekly reviews, operational readouts, and QBRs
Conduct proactive risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies across active deployments
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in safety management within transportation, autonomous vehicles, logistics, or field operations
Demonstrated experience building and managing Safety Management Systems (SMS)
Strong experience with KPI development, dashboard creation, and performance tracking
Working knowledge of DMV, NHTSA, and regulatory safety reporting requirements
Strong understanding of safety governance models, incident response frameworks, and regulatory compliance
Experience supporting multi‑location or highly mobile workforces
Ability to translate complex safety data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders
