Senior Tax Manager
AbsDabs Accounting, Louisville, KY, United States
About AbsDabs Accounting
AbsDabs Accounting is an outsourced accounting and fractional CFO firm serving a diverse portfolio of clients across hospitality, professional services, manufacturing, music and entertainment, architecture, and emerging brands. We work where the books meet the business, owning the technical work that lets our clients focus on running their companies. Our engagements range from full bookkeeping and controller work to fractional CFO leadership, complex restructurings, and multi-entity wind-downs.
Headquartered in Lexington with a growing Louisville presence, we are not a traditional public accounting firm. We do not bill by the six minute increment, we do not pretend busy season is a personality, and we do not hire to fill seats. Every person we bring on is expected to own real work and be trusted to be right.
About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Tax Manager to anchor our new Louisville office and own the tax and advisory function across our client base. This is a senior role with real responsibility from day one and a founding-hire opportunity to help shape our Louisville presence as it grows.
You will run multi-client tax engagements, lead complex projects, and serve as the technical anchor on federal, state, and local tax matters across our portfolio. Our Louisville office is being established to support our growing client base in the city, and you will be on the ground for that work while collaborating closely with our Lexington team.
Location & Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid role based in Louisville, KY. We expect regular in-office presence in Louisville and occasional travel to our Lexington headquarters. Candidates outside Louisville may be considered if they can establish regular on-site presence.
What You Will Do
Own tax compliance and planning for a portfolio of corporate, partnership, and individual clients across multiple industries
Manage federal, state, and local tax preparation and filings, including multi-state nexus analysis and resolution
Lead complex engagements such as restructurings, entity wind-downs, and multi-entity reorganizations
Serve as the senior tax voice in client conversations alongside our fractional CFO team
Identify tax planning opportunities and structure recommendations that move the needle for clients
Mentor junior accounting staff and review their work
Partner with outside tax advisors, attorneys, and auditors as needed on client matters
What We Are Looking For
CPA license, active and in good standing
7+ years of progressive tax experience, including time in public accounting at the senior or manager level
Demonstrated ownership of corporate and partnership tax engagements end to end
Working knowledge of multi-state tax issues, including nexus, apportionment, and state-specific filing requirements
Comfort with complex situations: restructurings, wind-downs, ownership transitions, distressed entities
Fluency with numerous accounting systems
Strong written communication. You will write to clients directly and your work will represent the firm
Self-direction. We do not micromanage and we expect you to do the same with your work
Nice to Have
Experience advising small-to-mid-market businesses with revenue between $5M and $100M
Hospitality, professional services, or entertainment industry exposure
Prior fractional or outsourced accounting experience
Master of Taxation or LL.M. in Taxation
What We Offer
Base salary of $95,000 to $125,000, calibrated to experience and technical depth, plus an annual performance bonus targeting 10 to 15 percent of base
Health benefits, paid time off, and CPE and licensure support
Modern remote-enabled tech stack
Client exposure that most senior accountants wait another decade to get
A seat at the technical table where your judgment drives the work
A founding-hire opportunity in a new office of a growing firm
How to Apply
Apply through LinkedIn with your resume and a short note describing the most technically interesting engagement you have run. Skip the cover letter template. Tell us what you actually did.
