Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Stockton, CA. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing petroleum fleet vehicles and heavy haul equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, experience working with trailers and trucks, and the ability to work both in the shop and from a service truck when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on petroleum fleet vehicles and heavy haul equipment
Conduct preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on diesel engines
Perform occasional gas engine repairs on company pickup trucks
Diagnose and repair automotive electrical systems and air brake systems
Work from a service truck in the field when required
Inspect trucks and trailers to ensure safe operation and compliance
Use diagnostic tools, including multi-meters and electronic devices, to identify mechanical and electrical issues
Document repairs and communicate maintenance needs with management
Follow all safety procedures and company policies while performing repairs
Minimum Qualifications:
Mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience with diesel engines
Basic knowledge of automotive electrical systems
Experience working with air brake systems
Previous service truck experience
Ability to pass a background check
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with fuel tanker overfill systems
Welding experience
Additional Skills & Abilities:
Ability to repair and maintain both trucks and trailers
Comfortable using computers, tablets, or smart devices for diagnostics and reporting
Ability to operate diagnostic equipment such as a multi-meter
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
