We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support capital infrastructure projects for a major electric utility in the Northeast. This role is employed by a leading self-perform power infrastructure contractor that delivers complex energy projects across transmission, distribution, and substation environments.
The Project Manager will serve as a key interface between the utility client, internal construction teams, and external stakeholders—ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Manage utility infrastructure projects from planning through closeout
Support transmission, distribution, and substation projects (preferred experience)
Coordinate schedules, budgets, scope, and resources across multiple stakeholders
Act as day-to-day project liaison with utility clients and internal construction teams
Track project costs, change orders, and progress reporting
Ensure compliance with utility standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines
Support field operations and site activities as needed
Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
Prepare project documentation, forecasts, and executive updates
Required Qualifications
5+ years of project management experience in power, utilities, or heavy civil infrastructure
Experience supporting or working directly with electric utilities
Strong understanding of construction means and methods
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work onsite 3 days per week in Poughkeepsie, NY
Proficiency with project controls, scheduling, and cost tracking tools
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with substation, transmission, and/or distribution projects
Background with self-perform contractors or EPC environments
Familiarity with utility standards, work management systems, or capital programs
