About the Role
We’re partnering with a leading engineering and design‑build firm to hire a
Senior Mechanical Engineer
who will take ownership of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection system design across a wide range of new construction and renovation projects. This role plays a key part in delivering high‑quality construction documents, supporting performance contracting initiatives, and guiding junior team members. You’ll work from early concept through construction completion, collaborating closely with cross‑disciplinary teams and ensuring technical excellence at every stage.
What You’ll Do
Lead the full mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection design process for consulting, design‑build, and performance contract projects.
Produce and review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Perform HVAC load calculations, hydraulic modeling, system evaluations, and energy‑savings analyses.
Conduct site assessments, field investigations, and construction observations to verify design intent and system performance.
Develop cost estimates, project budgets, and written technical reports.
Coordinate design efforts with electrical, structural, architectural, and other engineering disciplines.
Support performance contracting projects by identifying energy conservation measures and preparing supporting documentation.
Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, providing technical leadership and quality oversight.
Participate in project meetings and collaborate with project managers from concept through construction closeout.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
P.E License required
Strong background in mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection system design.
Experience producing construction documents and performing system calculations.
Familiarity with design‑build delivery and/or performance contracting is a plus.
Ability to lead technical efforts while supporting and developing junior team members.
Strong communication skills and comfort working across multiple disciplines.
Ability to conduct site visits and support projects through construction.
