About the Role:
As a member of the functional engineering team, the Mechanical Design Engineer will perform concept modeling, engineering and design support for the development, delivery, and sustainment of sub-systems and components managed by the Mechanisms & Actuation team. This team is responsible for battery integration components, lighting, driver controls, doors & hatches, mechanisms (e.g., latches, hinges, etc.) and seating. Additionally, the role may require design support of adjacent modules including (but not limited to) stowage, mounting, and guards. This functional engineering team supports the entire portfolio of products and programs within Client ranging from new technology demonstration to pre-production development and ultimately full scale vehicle production.

Hybrid or Onsite:
Due to the nature of the work, this role requires on-site presence up to 100%.
Responsibilities to Anticipate/Expect:
Developing detailed hardware concepts using CAD modeling tools and ensuring developed concepts meet all technical requirements.
Operating within cross-functional teams supporting program deliverables related to technical requirements, cost and schedule.
Collaborating with engineering peers within the project team to ensure developed concepts support a balanced system level approach that achieves the necessary performance requirements.
Collaborating with drafting personnel in maturing design concepts to a production-ready state.
Overseeing the release of hardware models and prints in accordance with ASME Y14.100
Supporting the manufacturing organization in the fabrication and integration of developed hardware onto prototype and/or production platforms.
Supporting, when required, testing and verification of developed hardware.
Leading Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) analysis to resolve identified technical issues with prototype and/or production hardware.
Minimum Qualifications / What You Must Have:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
3-5 years of experience in a product engineering role.
Capability to produce 3D CAD models using NX and/or Creo.
Experience assigning and interpreting GD&T.
Ability to work occasional weekends, evenings and overtime is required.
Must be proficient in Microsoft 365 applications.
Ability to travel up to 10% to other facilities and military installations if needed.
Desired Experience:
Engineering experience within the defense or aerospace industries is advantageous.
Experience with Teamcenter as a PLM tool.
Active DoD security clearance is highly preferred.
A candidate that demonstrates effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills is preferred.
